pour some sugar on me
A few weeks ago, I started up a poll on instagram asking my followers if they “groomed their lady parts”. Over 30 people answered yes, and surprisingly even some men said they did as well (you go guys!!). Personally, being groomed “down there” makes me feel like a QUEEN. It doesn’t matter if anyone is going to see it or not, (sorry mom and her friends.. hahah) but it makes me feel beautiful, confident and like I could walk the runway and make every head turn. YASSS GIRL.
Anyways, the reason I asked my internet friends this question was because I LOVE waxing. I usually get a Brazilian wax, but this time, I was trying something new.. sugaring. Have you heard of it? Neither did I. But let me tell you... I’m sure glad I tried it.
I’ll never wax again. I kid you not, I’ve seen what else is out there and I’m SOLD. It’s funny, this post was initially about the ways one could pamper yourself as a woman, regardless if you have a S/O or not. However, things shifted when I went into Sugaring LA, in Carlsbad, and came out a total sugar fan girl. As my initial post may or may not make its way into fruition, I felt like THIS was something I needed and, more importantly, wanted, to share with you all.
Lets start where sugaring originated. According to what I learned at Sugaring LA and my own digging around the Internet, sugaring is said to come from the Middle East, specifically Persia, presently known as Iran. It dates back to 1900 BC, sooo thank you ancient beauties for showing us the natural hair removal ways!
When I walked into Sugaring LA- Carlsbad, I was instantly comfortable, which is unusual for me since I’m usually an anxious alligator when I’m walking in for a wax. I was greeted by Julie who made me feel 100% confident I was in the right place. She explained the process of sugaring, answered all my questions (I have sensitive skin so I’m a little high maintenance) and even showed me the products she would be using before we started.
Did you know that the sugaring “concoction” is made up solely of sugar, water and lemon?! Talk about all natural! Yes please!!!! with that fun fact, my sensitive skin worries went out the window. With only three ingredients, I realized there was absolutely nothing foreign going “down unda” hah.
Now for the fun part... how it works. Now with waxing, it’s usually painted on, extremely hot and in no general direction is quickly ripped off (joyous I know). But with this, a room temperature “sugar ball” is rolled onto the skin and applied in the opposite direction of hair growth. The natural paste seeps into the hair follicles, which in turn removes not only the entire hair, but the follicle “tube” as well (I’m not well versed on the anatomy of the follicle so “tube” will have to do haha). Removing this “tube” prevents excess regrowth, ingrown hairs and potential tearing of sensitive skin. Yes, yes and more yes.
Like I said in the beginning, this all started when I began thinking of ways women can pamper themselves. And although it may not be a relaxing day at the spa, I think it’s something every woman should give a try. You never know how much you’ll like it until you try it!
And i want you ALLLLL to try it! So much that I have a 15% off code you can use so you can treat yourself without breaking the bank! Use “Christina15” when booking at Sugaring LA and you ladies (and men) are alll set!
I had an incredible experience at Sugaring LA, and I want to extend a special thank you to Julie, Khaila and the Sugar team for providing the opportunity for me to share this experience with you all! I honestly can say, I 100% recommend them to get your hair removal needs taken care of.
So what are you waiting for... pour some sugar on YOUUU and get that kitty pretty... or whatever you decide to sugar! Hahaha.
Much love & thanks for stopping by,
C
