The End of An Era: The Badass Babes Club.
I’m sitting in my empty room. This is the last time I’ll ever be surrounded by these four walls. I hear the dogs barking, the train. The neighborhood kids screaming and laughing, probably playing tag or on their scooters. Apparently I’m an emotional mover. I’ve already cried about leaving this place. Even though the parking was atrocious and some neighbors I’d prefer to have lived without.... this place, the bad ass babes club, my sanctuary, this chapter, is closing && it's time to move on. The other day, I walked into my empty (not yet clean) room and burst into tears. The memories that were made in this house felt like a history hurricane that was overtaking my every thought. I thought about leaving my serious, long term relationship. How I had to live with my former employer until I finally found this place with my two best friends, Charity and Alex. This was my first time ever, in my entire life, I was intentionally moving out. This is where I was finally able to feel that coveted sense of independence.
If you personally know me, you’ll know about the bad ass babes club. You may have even come over and seen it for yourself or ridden the shuttle..It’s the collective girl gang made up of my besties and I. Our house was the clubhouse and it served as the go-to girl sanctuary for many of our friends. This house was filled with game nights, holiday parties, movie nights and dance parties. We hosted guests from all parts of the world, some were from our own neighborhood, but hey, we love sleepovers haha. Oh also, every single person LOVED our couch. Haha. This was a place full of laughs and good times with friends.
This move (both in and out) was a huge moment in my personal growth journey. I experienced A LOT here!
This place was where I experienced my :
First dating experiences.
* I will always remember the first time I brought a guy home after beginning to date again. HAHA oh goodness, the boys that came through that house... those stories I'll keep for IRL haha.
First trips with friends.
* Alex and I took our first trip to San Fransisco in this house. It was such a fun weekend getaway and it was also Alex's first time in the Big City!! Watch our crazy time here :)
*Charity and I also took a trip to Kaui, which was both of our first time to the islands of Hawaii! We literally had the best time ever and saw some AMAZING wildlife! Come along on our adventure on the blog !
First roommates.
*Although I have always lived with my sister and have been in and out of friends houses, this was the first time I experienced roommates. Thankfully, I SCORED the roommate lottery and these two girls are AMAZING!
First time in my OWN place.
*Like I said earlier, this was my first time having my OWN place. I have lived with family friends, boyfriends and employers before but this place, was the first place I could call mine. Something about having one's own space is quite the experience, and I urge everyone to do it a few times in their lifetime.
There’s a lot of firsts. And I’m sure I’m forgetting more than just a few, but these are the ones that really stuck out.
All in all, this place helped me grow.
I'll miss the days we would walk down the street, get Marisco's fish tacos and street corn by the laundromat. But that chapter is over. Nevertheless, a new chapter is blooming and I am beyond ready to fill the pages with new growth, stories and adventures.
We made this house a home, for all of us. And I am and will be forever grateful for my bad ass babes.
Love you Char and Alex. You're my fave.
xoxoxo
